Adding a Wall-Mounted Louvre Roof to Adela’s Narrow Patio

Adela’s narrow tiled patio sat directly outside a large set of sliding doors but had no overhead protection from direct sun or changing weather.

To add adjustable coverage within the existing footprint, we installed a 5 × 2m Baltic manual wall-mounted louvre roof with black timber reinforcement.

Working with the Rendered Facade

Because the rear beam was mounted against a rendered exterior wall, additional reinforcement was required at the fixing points.

Black timber sections were installed behind the aluminium frame to provide a firm mounting surface and reduce direct pressure on the finished render. The timber was painted black so it would sit discreetly behind the rear beam and coordinate with the louvre roof.

Keeping the Patio Open

The 5 × 2m size follows the long, shallow shape of the tiled area.

By attaching the rear beam to the house, only two support posts were needed along the outer edge. This keeps the area directly outside the sliding doors clear and avoids placing posts through the main walkway.

The manual crank allows the louvres to be opened for more daylight and airflow, angled for shade, or closed when greater overhead protection is needed.

The finished installation gives Adela adjustable cover across the patio while making efficient use of the limited depth.
