Adding Weather Protection to Nezar’s Entryway

Nezar’s recessed entry area was open above, leaving the doorway and adjacent patio space exposed to rain and direct sun.

To add coverage across the 4m-wide alcove without introducing posts into the walkway, we installed a 4 × 2m City Window Door Awning.

Shelter Without Blocking Natural Light

The awning uses tinted polycarbonate roofing panels rather than a solid metal roof. This provides overhead protection while still allowing daylight into the recessed entrance and through the glass doors behind it.

The darker panels also help reduce direct glare and visually coordinate with the home’s dark window frames and exterior detailing.

Clear Access Beneath the Awning

The wall-mounted structure projects 2m over the entry area without requiring support posts at the outer edge. This keeps the path beneath the awning open and provides coverage over a larger section of the alcove.

A built-in gutter and downpipe help collect water from the roof and direct it toward the side of the structure, rather than allowing it to run directly from the front edge.

The finished installation gives Nezar a more protected entrance while retaining natural light and keeping the walkway free of obstructions.
