Creating Two Covered Zones Around Ryan’s Pool

Ryan’s backyard includes two outdoor areas on opposite sides of the swimming pool: an elevated deck connected to the house and a separate paved lounge area near the far boundary.

To provide adjustable cover across both spaces, we installed two matching 8 × 4m white Tasman motorised louvre roof systems. One was configured as a wall-mounted structure beside the house, while the other was installed as a freestanding poolside pavilion.

A Covered Deck Beside the House

The wall-mounted system covers the main deck outside the home’s sliding doors, creating a sheltered area for dining and outdoor cooking.

Attaching the structure along the house side reduces the number of posts required across the deck and keeps the main circulation area relatively open.

A white horizontal slat screen was also added beside the outdoor kitchen. It provides greater privacy and separation from the neighbouring side of the property while still allowing some light and airflow through the gaps.

A Separate Poolside Lounge

Across the pool, the second Tasman system was installed as a freestanding structure over a paved seating area.

Because it does not rely on the house for support, it could be positioned independently near the pool and outdoor fireplace. The matching white frame visually connects it with the covered deck on the opposite side of the yard.

Motorised louvres on both structures allow the overhead cover to be adjusted for daylight, airflow, shade and changing weather. The project also incorporates blinds and screening where additional side protection or privacy is required.

Together, the two systems create distinct covered areas for cooking, dining and relaxing without placing one oversized structure across the entire backyard.
